For 20 Years [Really?] They HAVEN’T Said The Word ‘Winner’ When Opening The Envelope…
Now, once again, they are saying:
“And The Winner Is.”
Personally, I really think the idea of a winner, and that the the Academy Awards are a race, at all…Not only doesn’t quite fit a way of awarding artistic achievement…but it makes it all kind of icky. However, Adam Shankman and Bill Mechanic didn’t ask for my input. [Nor would I expect them to!]
It was always a winner, anyway, as they opened the envelope and named that one Oscar come-and-get-it-at-the-podium, at the Academy Awards…Whether they stated it as such, or not. So. This year it will be stated outright:
