… For Best Supporting Actor In Movie :”From Here To Eternity”

Montgomery Clift & Oscar Winner Frank Sinatra
I loved this movie, “From Here To Eternity”, and I loved the acting in it. I already knew all about Frank Sinatra, because I was from Philadelphia! (That’s the U.S. of Frank-Sinatra-America-land, there.)
But, when I saw this movie, one Saturday at summer camp (they showed old classics), I was blown away. Especially, by Montgomery Clift. I think that’s where I may’ve had my first exposure to him, as an actor, altogether. I couldn’t take my eyes off of him.
And, that romantic scene, on the beach with the waves! (Deborah Kerr, Charlton Heston)
And, yes, I did note Frank. Ol’ Blue Eyes, as my parents called him, was so handsome, to me, when I saw what he looked like when he was thin! In his own way, of course, in a “around the neighborhood” kinda way.
I noticed that they all worked together, as if knitted together. It was my first sense, and desire, to be part of an acting ensemble.
And, the role that Sinatra played, it was like a drop of ink on a piece of blotter paper. Just filled up the part. With an ease, and an intensity that never felt intense, at all.
Magically alive.
